Kovalchuk pots hat trick in SKA win over CSKA.

Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and an assist for CSKA in a losing cause…Evgeni Malkin scored a highlight reel goal and teammate Sergei Gonchar netted a goal and an assist as Mettalurg Magnitogorsk blanked Amur Khabarovsk. The KHL also announced its schedule of games being televised on ESPN 2 and ESPN 3.

NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK: Edmonton Oilers rookie Nail Yakupov was named the KHL’s rookie of the week.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Those under existing NHL contracts will have no choice but to return. Those who are free agents could consider staying in the KHL, especially if they’re offered more money. Those who could stay in the KHL are promising young players eligible for NHL entry level deals, especially if the NHL gets its way and extends the term for entry level deals from three to five years.
