SPECTOR’S NOTE: Have to wonder if the Avs turned their focus to Zanon after their ill-fated effort earlier today to sign Matt Carkner. Anyway, he’s a good shot-blocking defenseman coming off a three-year, $5.8 million contract. His experience should help the Avalanche in their own zone.
**UPDATE: Its a two-year contract, worth $4.5 million, or $2.25 million per season. Affordable signing by the Avs, nice little pay bump for Zanon.
