The Columbus Blue Jackets today announced the re-signing of right wing Derek Dorsett to a three-year contract extension. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Dorsett, 25, has played four seasons with the Blue Jackets, last season tallying twelve goals and 20 points, as well as leading the league in penalty minutes with 235. He was slated to become a restricted free agent on July 1.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Dorsett is coming off a two-year deal paying him an average annual salary of just over $562K. His new salary could be worth between $800K – $1 million.
**UPDATE** It’s worth $4.9 million, breaking down as $1.633 million per season. Considerably more than my original estimate.
