TSN’s Darren Dreger reports the Boston Bruins have re-signed defenseman Dennis Seidenberg to a four-year, $16 million contract extension.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: It was only reported yesterday the Bruins considered re-signing Seidenberg as a priority. They obviously didn’t waste time getting this done. He was eligible for UFA status next summer, and this deal (worth an average cap hit of $4 million) bumps him up from the $3.25 million per of his current deal.
Though overshadowed by Zdeno Chara, Seidenberg has become an invaluable, under-rated part of the Bruins defense corps, logging big minutes, playing a defensively sound game, and chipping in offensively on the power-play.
At 32, Seidenberg remains in his prime as a defenseman and should remain a key part of the Bruins core over the next four years.
