The Montreal Canadiens have acquired goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Nashville Predators for future considerations.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: This is seen as an insurance move for the Habs as starter Carey Price remains hampered by a lower-body injury. He’s not expected to be sidelined for long but this move suggests he could be out longer than anticipated.
This is the second time Dubnyk’s been traded this season. He was shipped to the Predators from the Edmonton Oilers. An unrestricted free agent at season’s end, the former Oilers’ starter has seen his stock drop significantly this season. Expect him to back up Peter Budaj until Price returns to action.
