Canucks re-sign Raymond to one-year deal.

The Vancouver Canucks today announced the re-signing of winger Mason Raymond. TSN reports the deal is for one year at $2.275 million.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s down slightly from the $2.55 million Raymond earned last season. The Canucks wanted to retain him, but didn’t want to qualify his rights as that would’ve boosted his salary by 10 percent, and filed for “cutdown arbitration”, thought Raymond was keen to re-sign anyway. He was limited to only 55 games last season due to recovery from a spinal injury suffered in the 2011 Stanley Cup Final, but prior to that his number dropped to 39 points in 70 games after a career-best 25-28-53 performance in 82 games in 2009-10. Canucks management obviously wants to give Raymond one more chance at regaining that form.
