The Carolina Hurricanes have dealt defenseman Joe Corvo to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a fourth round pick.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The club’s earlier acquisition of Tomas Kaberle via free agency made Corvo expendable. His salary ($2.25 million) for next season easily fits under the Bruins salary cap, and replaces Kaberle’s spot on the Bruins blueline. Corvo had 40 points in 82 games with the Hurricanes last season, and while he’s been criticized for his defensive play, will likely see those stats improve under head coach Claude Julien’s system.
