TSN reports the Nashville Predators have dealt center David Legwand to the Detroit Red Wings for Patrick Eaves and a prospect.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: So much for Wings GM Ken Holland’s claim he wasn’t interested in playoff rental players. Injuries to Henrik Zetterberg and Stephen Weiss, along with Pavel Datsyuk on the limp, means the Wings were at risk of lacking depth at center down the stretch. Legwand is a 33-year-old skilled two-way center who’s strong in the faceoff circle. His experience should make him a solid addition to the Wings in their drive for a playoff berth. Eaves is a checking line forward who’s also eligible for UFA status.
