The Anaheim Ducks have re-signed center Andrew Cogliano to a four-year, $12 million contract. Cogliano was due to become an unrestricted free agent in July.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Cogliano’s new deal pays him an average annual salary of $3 million, though it’s structured to pay him $2.7 million next season, $2.9 million in 2015-16, $3.1 million in 2016-17 and $3.3 million in 2017-18.
No surprise the Ducks re-signed Cogliano. Since joining the Ducks in 2011 he’s been a reliable checking line center with good speed, solid defensive skills and the versatility to play all three forward positions. He’s also very durable, as he’s yet to be sidelined by injury or illness in his seven-year career.
The Ducks now have 16 players under contract for a combined $48.9 million.
