The Anaheim Ducks today announced the re-signing of defenseman Cam Fowler to a five-year contract extension worth $4 million per season. Fowler, 20, is entering the final season of his three-year entry level deal.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Fowler will make $1.4 million if he hits all his bonus clauses this season. In only two seasons he’s become arguably the Ducks top blueliner and one of the best young players in the league, so little surprise management wanted to get him under wraps for an additional five years. Should he fulfill his full potential as projected, the Ducks could have a potential Norris candidate inked to a very affordable deal. Hopefully, he’ll have little difficulty handling the heightened expectations which goes with such a significant raise.
