In today’s collection of notable post from the NHL blogosphere: A preview of the Islanders offense…Devilish money matters…The Bruins banner celebration…Should the Oilers sign Anton Stralman? …Crosby vs. Ovechkin: the commercial wars.
HOCKEY INDEPENDENT: B.D. Galloff previews the offense of the New York Islanders.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: In my opinion, the Islanders offense has the potential to be very good this season, perhaps good enough to lift the club into playoff contention.
IN LOU WE TRUST: Matt Evans SNC offers up a detailed examination of the Devils payroll, focusing on their decrease in spending.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: One has to wonder if their recent ownership woes might have something to do with this decrease?
PUCK DADDY: Greg Wyshynski reviewed the Bruins Stanley Cup Banner celebration, frowning upon the team taking a skate on home ice with the Cup, suggesting the ceremony took too long.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Thousands of Bruins fans, meanwhile, are wondering what all the fuss was about. And probably saying to critics,”At least we got a Cup banner to raise, what did your team win last season? Nothin’? That’s what we thought, now siddown and shaddap, we ain’t done celebratin’ yet”. Or words to that effect.
THE COPPER AND BLUE: Derek Zona suggests the Oilers should sign Anton Stralman to address their need for an experienced puck-moving defenseman. Stralman is currently waiting for word if the New Jersey Devils will sign him following his training camp tryout.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: I think that’s a terrific suggestion. Sure, Stralman has his flaws, but he’s very good on the PP, and would probably be better than any other current uninjured Oilers d-man in puck-moving ability.
BACKHAND SHELF: Daniel Wagner presents: “Crosby vs. Ovechkin: Commercial Edition”.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: My favorites are the last two.
