Updates on the contract statuses of Mike Knuble, Johnny Oduya and Dwayne Roloson.
PHILLY.COM/COURIERPOST ONLINE/PHILLYBURBS.COM: report the Philadelphia Flyers are hoping to re-sign winger Mike Knuble but lack of cap space is making it difficult to achieve that goal. Knuble wants to stay but also wants to get a fair contract.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: The Flyers can re-sign Knuble as they're allowed to go over the cap (by I believe ten percent) during the off-season but they'd have to dump salary by the start of next season.
NJ.COM/NY POST: report the New Jersey Devils are believed close to re-signing defenseman Johnny Oduya to a new deal which could be finalized on Tuesday. It's believed veteran Devils Brian Gionta and John Madden could walk via free agency tomorrow.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: Oduya was considered the priority re-signing for the Devils prior to July 1st so it's not surprising they're close to getting him under contract.
EDMONTON SUN: Terry Jones reports the Oilers are believed to have offered Dwayne Roloson a one-year deal worth roughly the same as the $3 million he earned last season. If he doesn't re-sign the Oilers will make finding a new starting goaltender their priority in this summer's UFA market. Robert Tychkowski meanwhile reports Ales Kotalik is poised to hit tomrrow's UFA market. Defenseman Jason Strudwick doesn't have an offer yet but he's believed still in the Oilers plans.
SPECTOR'S NOTE: Roloson probably won't get much more than what the Oilers are offering. Maybe it's me but I have a feeling Kotalik could end up playing in Europe next season.
