Could the Kings move Jack Johnson? Where might Martin Biron go? Is there interest in Derek Morris? Are the Wings in the market for a forward? What kind of contract is Francois Beauchemin seeking?

BOSTON.COM: Kevin Paul Dupont reports the LA Kings have about $10 million in available cap space and aren't expected to re-sign restricted free agent Jack Johnson. Dupont suggests with Drew Doughty and now Rob Scuderi on the Kings blueliner GM Dean Lombardi could look to peddel Johnson.

SPECTOR'S NOTE: That will depend of course on Johnson's salary demands and there will be considerable interest in him if Lombardi does put him on the market.

ESPN.COM: Pierre LeBrun reports the three-team battle (Toronto, Dallas and San Jose) for Swedish goalie Jonas Gustavsson could play a part in where UFA goalie Martin Biron's situation....there's interest from a few teams in UFA defenseman Derek Morris. Scratch the Capitals from the list but the Bruins might be interested as they inquired about Morris at the trade deadline.

SPECTOR'S NOTE: It'll be interesting to see where Biron ends up but he probably won't get the $5 million per season he was rumored seeking from the Philadelphia Flyers...I'm not sure if the Bruins have the cap space to sign Morris unless they dump salary at some point this summer.

DETROIT FREE PRESS: Helene St. James reports contract talks between the Red Wings and Jiri Hudler continue, and GM Ken Holland is in the market for a rugged winger with an offensive touch.

SPECTOR'S NOTE: Not too many wingers available in this summer's market. The most notable I could think of is Mike Grier.

THE GLOBE AND MAIL: Matthew Sekeres recently reported a source saying UFA defenseman Francois Beauchemin is believed seeking a contract comparable to that recently signed by Mike Komisarek with the Toronto Maple Leafs (five years, $22.5 million, $4.5 million per season).

SPECTOR'S NOTE: Beachemin makes a favorable case to earn that kind of money but it remains to be seen if he'll find it in this summer's market. After the initial blizzard of siginings on July 1st the market has cooled significantly, suggesting teams aren't as keen to spend.
