The Heatley Watch - August 31, 2009.

LA Kings GM Dean Lombardi comments on Dany Heatley plus the Senators could pursue Petr Sykora if they can move Heatley.

LOS ANGELES TIMES/OTTAWA SUN: report Kings general manager Dean Lombardi isn't interested in acquiring disgruntled Ottawa Senators winger Dany Heatley. Lombardi believes adding the talented but expensive Heatley would be too risky for his club. The Senators meanwhile are expected to address Heatley's status in a conference call with season ticket holders today. The San Jose Sharks are believed interested but GM Doug Wilson told the Sun he never asked Patrick Marleau to waive his "no-movement" clause.

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports the Senators are not only holding talks with UFA forward Mike Comrie but also with former Pittsburgh Penguins winger Petr Sykora. The Flyers and Wild are also believed seeking help at forward. Signing either player however could depend on moving Dany Heatley to free up the necessary cap space.

SPECTOR'S NOTE: The Senators management are doing the right thing in keeping their options open but moving Heatley is easier said than done. Sure, it's possible it could happen but his salary, movement clause and lack of potential suitors with available cap space along with concerns about his character makes a trade almost impossible.
