The Canucks face questions regarding several players, P.K. Subban talks about his contract status, and the Oilers talk contract with Taylor Hall.
VANCOUVER PROVINCE: The Roberto Luongo trade saga drags on, but the Canucks management must also start negotiating soon with Alex Burrows and Alexander Edler, who’ll both be eligible for UFA status next summer.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: All these situations probably won’t be resolved until after a new CBA is implemented.
NHL.COM: Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban remains optimistic he’ll eventually sign a long-term contract extension. Subban noted he grew up a Habs fan, loves playing in Montreal and wants to play his entire career there.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Some Canadiens fans, bloggers and even a few Montreal pundits have expressed some concern over Subban’s contract negotiations, fearing the Habs will trade him, or a team like the Flyers could swoop in with an expensive offer sheet. Folks, Subban isn’t going anywhere. He and the Habs will get a deal done. Sometimes these things take longer than expected.
TSN.CA: The Edmonton Oilers have resumed preliminary contract talks with Taylor Hall, who’ll become a restricted free agent next summer.
