Habs GM continues coaching search.

MONTREAL GAZETTE/QMI AGENCY: Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin isn’t revealing anything regarding his search for a new head coach, other than to say the search is moving forward.

A source “close to the Montreal organization” told TVA Sports Quebec Remparts owner/GM/coach Patrick Roy isn’t considered among the favorites for the job. Former NHL coach Bob Hartley and Saint John Sea Dogs coach Gerard Gallant were mentioned as candidates.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jim Matheson listed Brent Sutter, Marc Crawford, Todd Nelson, Jon Cooper and Ralph Krueger as possible candidates to replace Tom Renney as head coach.

CALGARY HERALD: George Johnson recently suggested NY Rangers assistant coach Mike Sullivan could be an “ideal fit” for the Flames as their new head coach.

WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Ed Tait listed four reasons why the Jets aren’t playing for the Stanley Cup. Among them, lack of a star center, and their defense.
