A quick look at possible moves by Detroit, Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

DETROIT NEWS/MLIVE.COM: Red Wings GM Ken Holland is hoping to add a forward with size and grit by today’s deadline. Options include Montreal’s Travis Moen, Columbus’ Samuel Pahlsson, Washington’s Mike Knuble, Buffalo’s Paul Gaustad. Holland isn’t expecting to shop for a defenseman despite losing Jonathan Ericsson for a month to a fractured arm.

BOSTON HERALD/BOSTON GLOBE: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli is shopping for depth at forward and defense. Options could include Columbus’ Samuel Pahlsson and Carolina’s Jaroslav Spacek.

PHILLY.COM/PHILLYBURBS.COM: Though GM Paul Holmgren is listening to offers, don’t expect a rush by him to make moves at the trade deadline. Holmgren has said he’s not in the market for a goaltender.

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE REVIEW/PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: Penguins GM Ray Shero could stand pat today, claiming he’s currently not working on any deals.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: To summarize: Red Wings and Bruins likely to make moves today, the Flyers may or may not, and if so, it’ll be depth moves, not a blockbuster deal, while the Penguins aren’t expected to make any significant moves today.
