Flames blank the Devils, Jets shut out by the Wild, Ducks end the Canucks playoff hopes, plus updates on Taylor Hall, Joffrey Lupul, Craig Anderson and Josh Gorges.
CALGARY HERALD: Karri Ramo made 31 saves and Mark Giordano scored the only goal as the Flames blanked the New Jersey Devils 1-0, dealing the latter’s playoff chances a serious blow.
VANCOUVER PROVINCE: The Canucks playoff hopes are officially over this season, falling 3-0 to the Anaheim Ducks.
WINNIPEG SUN: Ilya Bryzgalov made 24 saves and Charlie Coyle scored as the Minnesota Wild shut out the Winnipeg Jets 1-0. The Jets also learned winger Dustin Byfuglien could be out for the rest of the season with an undisclosed injury.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Devils still have a shot at the final wild card berth in the Eastern Conference, sitting three points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets. As for the Canucks and Jets, the less said the better. Well, except for the Jets’ Evander Kane, as his evasiveness during a recent interview is stoking trade speculation. I’ll have more on that in today’s Rumors section.
EDMONTON JOURNAL: Oilers forward Taylor Hall was the NHL star of the week.
TORONTO STAR: Maple Leafs winger Joffrey Lupul (knee surgery) will miss the remainder of the season.
OTTAWA SUN: Senators goalie Craig Anderson is having to cope with what’s been a humbling season for he and his teammates.
MONTREAL GAZETTE: The Canadiens could get defenseman Josh Gorges (broken finger) and Dale Weise (upper-body injury) back in the lineup soon.
