EDMONTON SUN: Jon Merrill’s overtime goal lifted the New Jersey Devils to a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. Taylor Hall scored the Oilers only goal, his 20th of the season.
VANCOUVER SUN: Despite missing two games with an undisclosed injury, Canucks defenseman Dan Hamhuis says he’ll be in the lineup tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also says it won’t affect his spot on Team Canada at Sochi.
TORONTO STAR: The Maple Leafs are wary of a desperate Vancouver Canucks team when the two clubs face off tonight in Toronto.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Leafs have won 10 of their last 13 games while the Canucks have lost six straight.
CALGARY HERALD: Joe Nieuwendyk will receive a “Forever a Flame” honor but he has no interest in joining the club as their new GM, citing his desire to spend more time with his family.
LA PRESSE: Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin was fined $5000.00 for butt-ending Vancouver Pascal Pelletier during Thursday’s game between the two clubs.
OTTAWA SUN: The Senators shuffled their lines and demoted center Stephane Da Costa.
WINNIPEG SUN: The Jets recent play shows they’re responding well to new head coach Paul Maurice.
