Latest on Taylor Hall, Marc Methot, Mark Fraser, Andrew Alberts and more.
EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jonathan Willis makes the case a potential Olympic snub of Edmonton’s Taylor Hall would be worse than Steven Stamkos’ rejection by Team Canada in 2010.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: When Stamkos was passed over he’d yet to establish himself as a superstar. Hall, while not quite yet on Stamkos’ level, has three full NHL seasons under his belt, steadily improving (despite serious injuries in his first 2 seasons) in each. If Hall gets off to a strong start to the upcoming season, he won’t be overlooked by Team Canada.
OTTAWA CITIZEN: Senators defenseman Marc Methot admits the odds of his making Team Canada’s roster for the Sochi Olympics are long.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: As the article suggests, it would take injuries to three or four top Canadian blueliner for Methot to get a shot.
OTTAWA SUN: Ottawa-born Mark Fraser is proud to be a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
VANCOUVER SUN: Canucks depth defenseman Andrew Alberts, whose wife is expecting their first child, is happy to be re-signed and staying in Vancouver.
WINNIPEG SUN: The Jets have signed prospect J.C. Lipton to a three-year, two-way entry level contract. Lipton was selected in the third round of this year’s entry draft.
