TORONTO STAR: The Toronto Maple Leafs downed the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 at the 2014 Winter Classic. Tyler Bozak scored the game-winning goal in a shootout while Jonathan Bernier made 41 saves.

TORONTO SUN: Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul could face supplemental discipline for his hit on Red Wings forward Patrick Eaves.

VANCOUVER SUN: The Canucks opened 2014 with a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Brad Richardson and Zac Dalpe scored for the Canucks. Ryan Kesler received some good news, as he was selected to the USA Men’s Olympic hockey team.

WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Jets forward Blake Wheeler was also selected for Team USA at the upcoming Sochi Winter Olympics.

LA PRESSE: Montreal Canadiens winger Max Pacioretty also made the cut for Team USA.

OTTAWA CITIZEN: Senators winger Bobby Ryan, who played for Team USA at the 2010 Olympics, failed to make the cut for 2014.
