WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Evander Kane and Bryan Little had two-point performances while Ondrej Pavelec kicked out 40 shots to lift the Jets to a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks, handing the latter their first regulation loss on home ice this season.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: This is also the fourth straight win for the Jets in as many games under new head coach Paul Maurice. While the Jets still have defensive issues, this was a big win for them and should provide a significant boost to their confidence.

TORONTO SUN: Phil Kessel scored twice and James Reimer made 35 saves as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Colorado Avalanche for their sixth straight win. Nathan MacKinnon scored twice for the Avs in a losing cause.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: My, the Maple Leafs bandwagon is getting crowded, isn’t it? Big win for the Leafs over one of the top teams in the Western Conference, moving them into a tie with the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference standings.

OTTAWA CITIZEN: Craig Anderson made 35 saves while Kyle Turris and Jason Spezza scored the game’s only goals as the Senators blanked the Washington Capitals 2-0. The Capitals were without Alexander Ovechkin, who sat out the game nursing an injury.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The win keeps the Senators within one point of a wild card berth.

VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Minus head coach John Tortorella and Henrik Sedin, the Canucks rode the solid goaltending of Roberto Luongo to a 2-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers received some good new on Ales Hemsky (foot injury), who could return to the lineup by this weekend.

CALGARY SUN: The Flames welcome back workhorse defenseman Kris Russell from injury.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: Louis Leblanc and Nathan Beaulieu are penciled  into tonight lineup against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
