NHL.COM: Although P.K. Subban is reluctant to discuss the details of his contract negotiations with the Montreal Canadiens, he stressed his desire to re-sign a long-term extension with the club. “Obviously I remain adamant on remaining in Montreal and being a Montreal Canadien, and not just for a long time but hopefully for the rest of my career, and be a lifer there,” Subban told Breakfast Television in Toronto earlier this week. “I really enjoy playing there.”

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Subban also took part in a skit with Seth Rogen during Montreal’s annual “Just for Laughs” comedy festival. I believe we’ll hear of the Canadiens re-signing him to a long-term extension before his arbitration hearing this Friday.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Bruce McCurdy examines the Oilers options for improving their depth at center from within the organization.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I have a feeling Oilers management will try to bring in a center via trade or free agency before this season begins.

CALGARY HERALD: Recently re-signed defenseman Mark Cundari hopes to crack the Flames roster full time this season.

TORONTO STAR: “A Hamilton man’s last wish was for the Toronto Maple Leafs to be the pallbearers at his funeral “so they could let him down one last time.”
