VANCOUVER PROVINCE: Canucks goalie Cory Schneider reacted to recommendations made by the NHL’s competition committee to reduce the size of goaltender pads, seeing both sides of the issue.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Shorter pads won’t adversely affect the play of NHL goalies, but I still believe they need to consider some reductions in the upper body padding as well. With today’s technology, that gear can be reduced without jeopardizing the health and safety of the goalie.
CALGARY HERALD: The Flames have reportedly signed goaltender Karri Ramo, who is expected to join the club next season, especially if starter Miikka Kiprusoff retires this summer.
