DETROIT NEWS: Patrick Eaves scored in a shootout as the Detroit Red Wings overcame a late game-tying goal by Alexander Ovechkin to beat the Washington Capitals 4-3. It was the 400th career win for Red Wings coach Mike Babcock.
NEWSOBSERVER.COM: Jeff Skinner and Alexander Semin lifted the Carolina Hurricanes to a 3-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues.
THE TENNESSEAN: Shea Weber scored twice, including in overtime, as the Nashville Predators to a 3-2 win over the New Jersey Devils.
NEW YORK POST: Three unanswered third period goals by Derick Brassard, Brad Richards and Ryan McDonagh carried the New York Rangers to a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders.

The club has called up Cedrick Desjardins and Kristers Gudlevskis from Syracuse on an emergency basis.
