DETROIT FREE PRESS: Dominik Hasek is expected to headline this year’s Hockey Hall of Fame inductees.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Mike Modano is anxiously awaiting word if he’ll be inducted this year into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

THE GLOBE & MAIL: James Mirtle wonders if this is the year Eric Lindros is inducted into the HHoF.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I believe Lindros deserves to be in the HHoF, but I doubt it happens his year. I think Hasek, Modano and Peter Forsberg will get the nod this season.

PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: Ron Cook rips the Penguins for how they’re handling their search for a new head coach. What could be hampering the search is ownership’s insistence on a two-year contract for the new bench boss.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Dan Bylsma is available…oh, wait….

CSNWASHINGTON.COM: Will new Capitals GM Brian MacLellan be as “Euro-friendly” as his predecessor?

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Any GM worth his salt seeks the best talent available, regardless of where they’re from.

THE BUFFALO NEWS: Highly-touted prospect Sam Bennett is trying to put his failure to do a single pull-up at the recent NHL Scouting Combine behind him.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: While I understand the concern over Bennett’s upper-body strength, his job will be generating offense.  It’s how many points you can put up, not how many pull-ups you can do. When Wayne Gretzky was Bennett’s age he couldn’t even bench press his own body weight (155 lbs).  That made no difference in his performance. I’m not saying Bennett will be another Gretzky, merely pointing out scouts shouldn’t put too much emphasis on Bennett’s pull-up failure.  He’s 18, he’ll get stronger. What matters is his playing skills.
