BOSTON HERALD: The Bruins won on the scoreboard and on the fight card, downing the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 in a shootout for their tenth consecutive win. Milan Lucic, the villain in their previous game against the Sabres for running goalie Ryan Miller, won his game-opening scrap against Buffalo’s Paul Gaustad.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I don’t think anyone’s surprised this game was a rough one, but it was also a close game. I think we can expect more of this between the two teams as the season goes on.

Doughty fined for hit on Oshie.

BND.COM: The NHL fined LA Kings defenseman Drew Doughty $2,500.00 for his cross-check which drove St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie into the boards in a recent game between the two teams.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Doughty is now considered a “previous offender”, next time, he’ll face suspension.

STARTRIBUNE.COM: The Minnesota Wild dominated the third period once again, for the seventh time in their last 11 victories since October 20th, defeating the Nashville Predators 3-2, maintaining the best record in the league.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s right, gang, the Wild have the best record in the league. They’re still accused of playing boring hockey, but there’s no denying the result so far.

WASHINGTON POST: Alexander Semin bounced back from being a healthy scratch in the Capitals previous game, opening the scoring as his club would go on to beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-3.

MERCURYNEWS: San Jose Sharks goalie Antti Niemi made 34 saves, blanking his former team, the Chicago Blackhawks, by a 1-0 score.

DENVER POST: Adrian Dater reports the struggling Colorado Avalanche’s 3-0 loss to the Vancouver Canucks indicates things are getting grimmer.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Avs could be facing a shakeup, either via trade or a coaching change, if things don’t improve soon.

PHILLY.COM: Jaromir Jagr re-aggravated a groin injury in last night’s 4-3 Flyers win over the NY Islanders.

ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER: The Anaheim Ducks woes continue, falling 4-2 to the Phoenix Coyotes, extending their current losing skid to 5 games, their 14th loss in their last 16 games.

NEW YORK POST: Rangers forward Andre Deveaux could face suspension for elbowing Florida forward Tomas Fleischmann in the head.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: After watching the video, I think “will be” facing a suspension is more like it.
