LOS ANGELES TIMES: Jakob Silfverberg scored the winner in a shootout as the Anaheim Ducks nipped the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Silfverberg is among the Ducks leading scorers so far this season. As I expected, he’s become a terrific acquisition for the Ducks.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Marchand hasn’t been the same since his buddy Tyler Seguin was traded this summer.  

TWINCITIES.COM: The Minnesota Wild are trying to find a way to jump-start the declining play of second-line winger Dany Heatley.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The sad fact is Heatley has definitely slowed in recent years, and it’s very apparent this season. I doubt there’s much the Wild can do about that. Given Heatley’s expensive salary for this season, they won’t find any takers in the trade market for him.

DETROIT NEWS: Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall is “day-to-day” with a mild concussion after he was slammed into the endboards by Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod, who faces an in-person hearing with NHL disciplinarian Brendan Shanahan.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Kronwall’s lucky it was only a mild concussion as it could’ve been much worse.

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: The Blackhawks are gearing up for the return of former teammate Dave Bolland when the Toronto Maple Leafs visit Chicago today.

WASHINGTON POST: As the struggling Capitals shake up their lines, Martin Erat will get his chance to prove himself with his elevation to the second line .
