A collection of recent post-trade deadline rumors regarding Ryan Kesler, Alex Edler, Thomas Vanek, Matt Moulson and many more.

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reported the Canucks worked very hard to move Ryan Kesler at the trade deadline but a deal just wasn’t there. It’s believed the Penguins and Blackhawks pushed hard toward the end, with the Penguins believed offering up a package which included center Brandon Sutter…The Senators and Maple Leafs were among the clubs which inquired about Thomas Vanek, who was dealt to the Canadiens…Several teams expressed interest in Rangers’ fiesty forward Derek Dorsett…The Flames were ready and willing to move defenseman Dennis Wideman but couldn’t find any takers…Several clubs has interest in Senators’ prospect Curtis Lazar but he wasn’t available…It’s believed the Flames were determined to get a first round pick for Mike Cammalleri, which explains why he wasn’t dealt by the deadline…The Ducks were believed interested in Thomas Vanek and Mike Cammalleri but weren’t willing to pay the respective asking prices…There was interest from other clubs in Ryan Callahan before the Rangers shipped him to Tampa Bay…The Blues were willing to move Derek Roy at the deadline but couldn’t find any takers.

Could the Bruins pursue Alex Edler this summer?

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jim Matheson believes Thomas Vanek won’t re-sign with the Canadiens because he lives in Minnesota. He believes it’s possible Ryan Callahan could accept less than what he sought from the Rangers to remain with the Lightning after this season. Florida’s lack of a state tax could be an incentive…Matheson also reports believes the Ducks could push hard for Ryan Kesler this summer, citing their depth in young talent and draft picks to offer in return…He calls upon the Oilers to make a big push to sign Kings defenseman Matt Greene if he hits this summer’s UFA market…The Red Wings want to re-sign David Legwand…He doubts Matt Moulson remains with the Wild beyond this season but could see him joining the Blue Jackets…Some sources claim the Coyotes were interested in Ales Hemsky before the deadline. Matheson suspects they’ll push hard to sign him if he hits this summer’s UFA market.

NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks wonders if the Devils will re-sign Jaromir Jagr next season. He’s been their best player this season…Rangers defenseman Anton Stralman rejected a three-year, $9 million contract offer prior to the Olympics.

BOSTON GLOBE: Fluto Shinzawa last week reported the Bruins were believed to have had a deal in place for Canucks’ defenseman Alexander Edler but it fell through as it hinged on the Canucks trading Ryan Kesler. The Bruins could’ve absorbed his salary in part by placing Dennis Seidenbeg and perhaps Adam McQuaid on LTIR for this season. Shinzawa suggests the two clubs could revisit the deal around the NHL draft in June. Edler must also agree to waive his no-trade clause, while the Bruins would have to shed salary to take on his annual $5 million cap hit. The Canucks would need a defensive replacement for Edler. Shinzawa suggested Matt Bartkowski going to Vancouver…Shinzawa also notes the difficulty the Hurricanes could have trying to move goalie Cam Ward this summer…The Sabres listened to offers for Christian Ehrhoff, Tyler Myers, Chris Stewart and Drew Stafford.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Just some general thoughts. I believe the Canucks moved Kesler and Edler this summer, likely around the June draft. If they Bruins want Edler they’ll either have to send the Canucks a salaried player this summer or move on in a separate deal with another club. Even by putting Marc Savard on LTIR, they won’t have much cap space to play with…The Flames won’t move Wideman unless they pick up part of his remaining contract…Cammalleri won’t re-sign with the Flames, but I could see Callahan sticking with the Lightning…I consider Moulson “Plan B” for the Wild if they cannot sign Vanek this summer…The Kings are trying to re-sign Greene…If the Wings do re-sign Legwand it could be a two-year deal as he’s only two years away from turning 35…I could see Hemsky going to the Coyotes if the Senators fail to sign him…I also expect the Devils to re-up Jagr for next season…Ward could be difficult to move but not impossible, provided he’s willing to waive his no-trade clause…The Sabres aren’t done making moves. They could shop a couple more players this summer, notably Ehrhoff.
