This morning collection of NHL rumors has Jaroslav Spacek possibly losing his job to Alexei Yemelin, plus speculation on Zach Bogosian and Sergei Samsonov. Enjoy!
TSLH: claims Russian rookie Alexei Yemelin will likely be in the starting lineup for the Montreal Canadiens this season, which could mean veteran Jaroslav Spacek could be banished to the press box and potentially become trade bait if he fails to play up to expectations.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Hat tip to “Jonathan”. It’s a tad early to speculate on which Canadiens defenseman could become the odd man out if Yemelin should make the lineup. Yes, Spacek could be that guy, but that’s far from certain.
HOCKEYBUZZ.COM: “Eklund” offered up some “quick hits” rumors yesterday, claiming rumors persist the Canadiens and Devils may have interest in Zach Bogosian (though the Canadiens are though to have more interest in Johnny Oduya), Sergei Samsonov has been linked to Detroit or Pittsburgh for either a tryout or a contract, the Avalanche are trying to make moves but can’t find a trading partner, rumors of a Luke Schenn for Bogosian swap may be “merely speculative”, and the Flyers may be waiting on Adam Mair, though he might be headed to New Jersey on a tryout.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Other teams can like Bogosian all they want, the Jets aren’t moving him. I still doubt the Canadiens are in the market for any blueliners at this time…Not sure if Samsonov would be a fit with the Wings or Penguins. Still, his agent is reportedly talking with an unnamed team…I’d say talk of a Schenn for Bogosian swap isn’t just “merely speculative”, it’s baseless speculation…
