The latest blogosphere roundup, today focusing on Brad Marchand, Mike Modano,Drew Doughty and Alexander Semin, plus suggested moves the Penguins could make if Sidney Crosby fails to return this season. Enjoy!

BLEACHER REPORT: Nicholas Goss lists 11 potential trades the Pittsburgh Penguins could make if Sidney Crosby misses the entire season to post-concussion symptoms. Among the suggested options: trading for Calgary’s Jarome Iginla or Alex Tanguay, Edmonton’s Ryan Whitney, Winnipeg’s Nik Antropov or Montreal’s Andrei Kostitsyn.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: While it’s always possible the Penguins could use the opportunity to go over the salary cap to bring in additional depth if Crosby should go on LTIR for the entire season, it’s certainly a worst case scenario at this point, and not one the Penguins are seriously entertaining at this time. As for the players suggested in the piece, most are currently unobtainable or wouldn’t provide a significant upgrade.

Scott Semmler meanwhile listed the Minnesota Wild, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks and Detroit Red Wings as teams which “could be interested in Mike Modano”.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: If those, or any other, NHL teams had interest in Modano, they would’ve signed him or invited him to training camp by now. That ship has sailed.

GATHER.COM: Larry Seely claimed a recent Bleacher Report has the LA Kings making a deal that would ship Drew Doughty to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and also claimed “the latest rumor” had the Detroit Red Wings attempting to acquire Alexander Semin from the Washington Capitals.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Bleacher Report never claimed the Kings were “making a deal” with the Maple Leafs regarding Doughty, or anyone else for that matter. It merely suggested the Leafs might be among four teams which would be interested in acquiring Doughty if the Kings were to shop him. Big difference. As for Semin, he’s not going anywhere at this time, and quite frankly, unless he struggles this season or the Capitals get a deal too good to pass up, I don’t see him being dealt this season

HOCKEYBUZZ.COM: “Eklund” claims the Boston Bruins aren’t “shopping” Brad Marchand, but are listening to offers. He claims Toronto, Winnipeg, Anaheim, Minnesota, Colorado and St. Louis are interested.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I wouldn’t doubt there might be some teams calling the Bruins to inquire into Marchand’s availability. I still believe he’ll be re-signed.
