The latest on Jaromir Jagr, updates on Nikita Filatov, more Capitals speculation and more.
PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW: Rob Rossi reports free agent Jaromir Jagr hasn’t committed to playing hockey next season but hasn’t ruled out the possibility. The Pittsburgh Penguins are planning to extend an offer to Jagr to their annual summer golf alumni outing, which would be the first step toward Jagr burying the hatchet with Penguins fans angry with him for demanding a trade back in 2001.

CBC.CA: In his recent “30 Thoughts” column, Elliotte Friedman suggested if the Washington Capitals are to make a trade to shake up their roster for next season, they should choose between Alexander Semin and Mike Green, but not move both.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Agreed, one or the other. I’d suggest Semin.
YAHOO! SPORTS’ Dmitry Chesnokov recently tweeted the KHL’s CSKA has made an official offer to Columbus’ Nikita Filatov to retain his KHL rights, though they’d like to have him back.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Filatov’s under-achievement thus far probably has more than a few Blue Jackets fans wishing he’d return to the KHL.
LAKINGSINSIDER.COM: Rich Hammond recently reported unless the Kings believe Alexei Ponikarovsky will increase his goal total next season above the 15 he netted this season they’re not going to re-sign the pending UFA winger.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Can you say “KHL bound”? I can…
