The Edmonton Oilers have acquired forward Mike Brown from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for a fourth round pick in 2014.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Oilers reportedly sought additional toughness at forward for several weeks, so this move shouldn’t come as a surprise. Brown was seeing less playing time in Toronto, thanks largely to the presence of Colton Orr and Frazier McLaren in the lineup, so the Leafs could afford to move him. Brown isn’t the kind of skilled “
sandpiper“sandpaper” forward some in the Edmonton media have been stumping for, but at least he’ll provide an additional measure of grit on their checking lines.
