The San Jose Sharks have dealt defenseman Douglas Murray to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a second round pick in 2013, and a conditional second round pick in 2014 (if Murray re-signs).
SPECTOR’S NOTE: No surprise the Penguins went for a physical defensive blueliner as that was the anticipation after they acquired Brenden Morrow from Dallas yesterday. Murray is due to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, and the Sharks had limited cap space to re-sign him. Remains to be seen if this is the first of others for the Sharks heading toward the trade deadline. As for the Penguins, they just became a little tougher to play against.
