Quincey avoids arbitration.

TSN’s Darren Dreger reports the Detroit Red Wings have avoided arbitration with defenseman Kyle Quincey, re-signing him to a two -year deal, paying him $3.55 million in 2012-13, and $4 million in 2013-14.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s an average annual cap hit of $3.775 million for Quincey, who was dealt to the Red Wings late last season in a rare “three-way” trade. Bit of a raise above the $3.125 million per season of his previous contract. Given the Wings have lost Nicklas Lidstrom to retirement, they had to re-sign Quincey or risk losing more blueline depth, though their quest for a suitable replacement for Lidstrom has so far proven fruitless.
