TSN’s Bob McKenzie and ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun report the Dallas Stars have re-signed winger Jamie Benn to a five-year, $26.25 million contract.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Benn’s annual average salary will be $5.25 million, pretty much around where most experts expected. It’s also the same as the one Joffrey Lupul recently inked with the Toronto Maple Leafs. A fair deal for the Stars and for Benn, who might need some time to ease back into the Stars lineup, though he did play nearly 20 games in Germany during the lockout. He shouldn’t have any difficulty playing up to the expectations which comes with this deal.
