Today is expected to be “decision day” for UFA stars Zach Parise and Ryan Suter, while the Rick Nash trade speculation enters its fifth month.

Decision day for Parise and Suter?

NJ.COM: Rich Chere reports Devils UFA winger and captain Zach Parise is expected to make his decision today regarding which team he’ll sign with, while it looks promising fellow Devils UFA Martin Brodeur could re-sign. The Devils remain among the teams on Parise’s “short list”, along with the “Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings and Philadelphia Flyers.”

THE TENNESSEAN/NASHVILLE EXAMINER: Josh Cooper reports the Predators have made a “competitive offer” for UFA blueliner Ryan Suter, while Jim Diamond reports Predators GM David Poile’s patience with Suter appears to be running thin.

PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: Dave Molinari reports the Penguins submitted offers for Parise and Suter and await their decision.

STARTRIBUNE.COM: Michael Russo reports the Minnesota Wild also submitted bids for the pair and remain in the running.

DETROIT NEWS: Ted Kulfan reports the Red Wings are among the teams on the “short lists” of Parise and Suter.

CSNPHILLY.COM: Tim Panaccio reports the Flyers were among the teams submitting long-term offers to Parise and Suter.

LOS ANGELES TIMES: Lisa Dillman reports the Kings have interest in Parise but acknowledge the odds are against them.

NEWSOBSERVER.COM: Luke DeCock reports the Hurricanes are out of the running for Parise, may be in the running for Suter, and aren’t on Rick Nash’s list of preferred trade destinations.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Parise and Suter are expected to make their decisions today, which will have a significant effect upon the UFA and trade markets, as teams which lose out for their services will turn elsewhere to address their needs.

COLUMBUS DISPATCH: Aaron Portzline reports Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson claims he’s no closer to moving Rick Nash via trade. Howson is hoping Nash’s value improves once Zach Parise is signed.

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports the Senators are out of the bidding for Nash.

NEW YORK POST/NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: The Rangers are believed continuing their pursuit of Nash. The Rangers have made it clear they won’t part with Ryan McDonagh, Chris Kreider or Derek Stepan, but Howson apparently still insists upon one or two of those players to be included in a deal.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Flyers have also apparently gotten into the bidding, though I daresay they’re awaiting Parise or Suter’s decision before pressing forward with further trade talks. The Hurricanes aren’t on Nash’s list and reportedly he has no intention of changing that.  For now, it appears the Rangers could be the likely destination, but that could change if more teams jump into the bidding.
