The only way San Jose gets Nash is if Columbus really really wants to trade him and Nash won't wave his NTC to go to LA or wherever. San Jose just doesn't have the pieces that Columbus would need to get. No young forward that they can part with, no high-end prospects and low 1st round draft picks. I guess they do have two goalie prospects that might be of interest but none of them are very close to the NHL from what I know. I guess that is what happens when you trade your 1st rounder three of the last four years or something like that. San Jose would have to swing a trade for a good young player in the NHL right now and then get rid of two of their best prospects as well as a draft pick or two. LA can afford to do this; San Jose really can't compete with what they have to offer.

Stove your right it is hard to say how long the lunch pail hockey will continue to win games. Eventually you are going to need someone that can make a big plat during a game by himself. Gabby can do that but really hasnt often enough and if the team wasnt winning he would be taking the flack like last year even though hes had a bounce back year. But consider this, in 2 years his contract is up and they wouldnt have to resign him, because theyd have a younger bigger player in Nash. The one thing I wouldnt want the NYR to get forced into doing is not being able to resign the core guys because of Nash. In Past years it would already be done and the payroll would be 125 million and we would be dead last. They have come a long way and though Id like to see Nash a Ranger, I would not sell out the entire future to get him. I would though offer up Dubinsky as its been mentioned along with JT Miller and Tim Erixon who Im not sold on and a pick for Nash. Im not saying Colombus couldnt do better but I think in that deal the Rangers would do the least damage to the team chemistry. I catch a lot for being willing to give up Dubie, but Nash is a considerable upgrade and Dubie makes what? 3 or 4 mil?

Not sure what the Avalanche's thinking process is leading up to the deadline, but if they're willing to move Statnsy, the Preds should jump on that trade. They need to show both Suter and Weber that the organization is serious about being a perennial Cup contender if they hope to retain both of them. The Avs would probably want Ellis as part of the return for Statsny (which I would do), but maybe a 1st round pick, Jon Blum and Austin Watson might be enough to get that trade done.

@ DurtMCHurt

Come on you know you laughed at it. I am just trying to have some fun until and if the Sharks make a trade, as this is a truely boring Trade Deadline thus far, at least from my perspective.

I thought the Downie for Quincy trade was a good 1. I would have liked for the Sharks to pickup either one of those guys. I am waiting for Dougie Wilson to work his Magic like he did to acquire Thornton, and pickup Nash that would give the Sharks some real fire power.

Vermette is not the guy the Jackets should be dealing and they def get hosed in the deal. Vermette is a 3 time 20 goal scorer, two seasons ago showed what he could do. I would have at least tried to get another 2nd or maybe Brett McClean out of the deal. Smart move by the 'Yotes.

Vermette's two way style of play and chippy offense fits right into their system not too mention he is a decent size at 6'1" almost 200 lbs. Anyway best of luck to Vermette in PHO, I hope he helps them to the playoffs.

This goaltending situation has been there since Burke took the helm. The only think Burke has done to address the goaltending is to sign the monster which was a crap shoot given the fact he had never played in the NHL. Reimer fell in his lap and was never supposed to be the goalie of the future so anything he has done to this point was just a bonus for the team. Burke knew going into this season he had the monster which hadn't faired well to that point and Reimer who had a grand total of 37 NHL games under his belt and 44 AHL games. Now here we are 60 games into the season and the experiment has failed miserably.

Imagine your plan is to leave two young unproven goalies to fend for themselves under Wilson's run and gun system of play defence only if you have to senerio. No wonder these guys are finished before they have even gotten started. I feel sorry for them...
