Will the Devils trade Jason Arnott? Could the Leafs move Clarke MacArthur? Are the Penguins done dealing? Will the Flames make a move? Read on for the latest!

NORTHJERSEY.COM/NJ.COM: report Devils center Jason Arnott will be meeting with GM Lou Lamoriello on Sunday where he’ll make a decision on if he’ll accept a trade or remain with the Devils for the rest of this season. Arnott is an unrestricted free agent this season and carries a “no-movement’ clause.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Arnott has previously said he’d be willing to waive his clause but that was before the Devils went on their current hot streak in which they’re now within striking distance of a playoff berth. While Lamoriello could ask him to waive it or Arnott could ask to be dealt I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays.

TORONTO SUN: Steve Simmons wondered if Clark MacArthur and the Maple Leafs can reach a compromise on a new contract before the trade deadline. MacArthur is a free agent this summer and it’s believed GM Brian Burke could shop him at the deadline if they cannot agree on a new contract. Simmons said value for MacArthur could be three years, $8 million but it’s believed the winger has sought more while the Leafs have offered less.

Lance Hornby meanwhile reports Colorado defenseman John-Michael Liles has been long rumored on the Leafs radar. It’s believed the Avs are amongst five teams Burke has spoken to regarding the acquisition of a veteran defenseman.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Have to wonder if MacArthur could be used as trade bait for a defenseman if he’s not re-signed by deadline day.

PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW/PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: reported Penguins GM Ray Shero might not be done dealing as he could be in the market for an affordable defenseman with Brooks Orpik out four-six weeks, though he said defensemen are coming at a premium.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Shero has proven a savvy trader at this time of year so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility he makes another move by the deadline.

CALGARY HERALD/CALGARY SUN: reports Flames GM Jay Feaster isn’t under any pressure to make a major move leading up to the trade deadline. He’s not expected to move pending UFAs like Anton Babchuk, Curtis Glencross, Brendan Morrison, Alex Tanguay and Steve Staios because of the job they’ve done in helping the Flames get back into playoff contention. Feaster would like to add more depth but he might lack the depth in his system to make a significant move.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: If Feaster does make a trade it’ll be to add, not subtract, as the Flames have terrific team chemistry right now, so he might have to move a draft pick or prospect for a proven player.
