Latest on Brad Richards, Chris Phillips and  Brett Clark, plus updates on the Wild, Blues and Blue Jackets.

OTTAWA SUN: Bruce Garrioch reports Senators defenseman Chris Phillips may have played his final game as a Senators last night, but the defenseman said he’s operating under the assumption he’ll still be with the club after tomorrow’s 3 PM deadline.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Talks are ongoing but it’s believed it could go down to the wire.

BOSTON GLOBE: Kevin Paul Dupont suggested the Toronto Maple Leafs could be aggressive in efforts to land Brad Richards from the Dallas Stars. Dupont believes Richards could be the kind of foundation piece the rebuilding Leafs need.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Richards also has a “no-movement” clause and according to Toronto Sun columnist Steve Simmons he recently told friends the Leafs are not amongst the club’s he’d be willing to join.

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: Adam L. Jahns reports Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman remains in the trade market for depth at center and defense.

TAMPABAY.COM: Damian Cristodero reports the Blackhawks are seeking defensive help and the Lightning could use a forward as a short-term replacement for the injured Ryan Malone. Cristodero noted a recent rumor out of Chicago linked Bolts blueliner Brett Clark to the Blackhawks.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Lightning GM Steve Yzerman has said he won’t move any draft picks to bolster his lineup which would mean either moving a roster player like Clark or else a prospect. Remains to be seen if those two teams are a fit.

DENVER POST: Adrian Dater reports 13 scouts attended last night’s Avalanche-Kings game. The only “untouchables” on the Avs roster seem to be Matt Duchene, Erik Johnson and Milan Hejduk. Teams may be interested in veteran blueliner John-Michael Liles, while the Blackhawks seek more defensive depth which could keep Jay McClement or Ryan O’Reilly get to hear their names in rumors.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Lots of speculation the Avs are entertaining offers for Paul Statsny but I’m not sure they could move his big contract during the season if they are indeed listening to offers. Not sure they’d move McClement only a week after acquiring him from the Blues but stranger things have happened.

STARTRIBUNE.COM: Michael Russo reports Minnesota Wild GM Chuck Fletcher is looking for offensive help but doesn’t want to make a move which harms his club’s strong chemistry.

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH: Jeremy Rutherford reports Blues GM Doug Armstrong doesn’t expect to make any further significant moves before the deadline though he didn’t rule anything out.

COLUMBUS DISPATCH: reports if Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson makes a trade it probably would be a “solid deal” if his trade history is anything to go by but he won’t make a blockbuster move.
