Various sources report the Edmonton Oilers have dealt winger Andrew Cogliano to the Anaheim Ducks for a second round pick in 2013.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Back in 2007-08, Cogliano was amongst the Oilers promising “young guns”, coming off a strong rookie season (45 points) and considered one of the foundation players upon which they would rebuild. Unfortunately, Cogliano never got back to that form again, as his point numbers decreased along with his playing time. Jim Matheson and David Staples of the Edmonton Journal had recently mused Cogliano or Gilbert Brule would become the odd man out given the club’s depth on the wing. The Ducks, needing depth on their checking lines, will hope Cogliano either regains his once-promising form, or at least rounds into a decent checking forward.
