Jets players like Dustin Byfuglien about to find their every move scrutinized in Winnipeg…Eric Belanger hopes to stick with the Oilers beyond this coming season.

WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Gary Lawless reminds Winnipeg Jets players, like Dustin Byfuglien, they’re not in Atlanta anymore when it comes to their private lives now that they’re playing in a hockey-mad city.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Byfuglien, who was recently charged with BWI and weighed in during his booking at over 285 lbs, is probably used to that, having played several years in Chicago. Still, Lawless makes a good point, one all the Jets players should heed.

EDMONTON JOURNAL:  Jim Matheson reports journeyman center Eric Belanger, who signed a three-year deal this summer with the Oilers, is hoping to stick in Edmonton beyond this season, pointing out the frequency of his moves in recent years from team to team has been difficult at times for his family.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: We fans sometimes chuckle over how much some players have bounced around the league. We rarely consider how trying all those moves can be on their families. With a three-year deal, Belanger should have the opportunity for some stability in his family life, though the possibility he could be dealt remains in the background.
