In this morning’s collection of blogoshere-generated NHL rumors: Three teams that could pry Cory Schneider out of Vancouver…Recent updates on Turris and Radulov…The Leafs and Oilers talking trade?

Could Schneider be playing elsewhere by season’s end?

BLEACHER REPORT: Joel Prosser recently listed three teams he believed could pry backup goalie Cory Schneider out of Vancouver, suggesting the Canucks could move him for an asset which could help them in the playoffs. He speculates the New Jersey Devils could offer up Zach Parise, who is currently on a one-year contract and eligible for UFA status. Steve Downie of the Tampa Bay Lightning might be of interest for the Canucks, who could use a gritty forward. The Bolts will eventually need a younger goalie to replace Dwayne Roloson. Finally, Prosser suggested the Winnipeg Jets might be willing to part with Dustin Byfuglien, as there are “rumblings” management wasn’t happy over Byfuglien’s arrest for BWI and his supposed weight issues.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Canucks apparent intent for this season is to retain Schneider to reduce the workload Roberto Luongo could face this season, so I don’t expect he’ll be dealt unless the Canucks appear in danger of missing the playoffs by the trade deadline. I don’t believe the Devils will trade Parise, as both sides still appear keen to get a new deal done, but if they did trade him, the Canucks wouldn’t be able to afford to retain him, given how many high-salaried players are already on the Canucks payroll.  I doubt the Jets will part with “Big Buff”, especially if he performs as well as he did last season. I don’t doubt the Lightning could have interest in Schneider, but they might have to wait until next summer to make a bid for him, and it’s possible GM Steve Yzerman could consider other options.

HOCKEYBUZZ.COM: “Eklund” recently posted the Toronto Maple Leafs are talking to “quite a few teams” about forwards but the Edmonton Oilers appear the best fit. He claims the Oilers are after Carl Gunnarsson but the Leafs are reluctant to move him. He also reported the Leafs liked Gilbert Brule and Ales Hemsky, and it “could get interesting” if the Oilers took Jeff Finger. He also claimed the Predators were watching Alexander Radulov’s situation in the KHL closely and would welcome him back in a second.

“Eklund” also claimed Buffalo, Anaheim and Pittsburgh were interested in Phoenix’s Kyle Turris.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I’m a bit late posting this one. If the Leafs like Brule they could claim him off waivers. It doesn’t appear the Oilers are keen to move Hemsky at this point, and I doubt they would have any interest in Jeff Finger. As for the Leafs supposed reluctance to move Gunnarsson, reports out of Toronto keep citing him as a possible trade candidate…As for Radulov, I don’t believe he’ll be returning to the NHL this season, but if he does, he’d better do it before the season opener on Friday, or he’d better not play another KHL game after that date. Otherwise, he’d have to pass through waivers, and I doubt the Predators would want to take that gamble.

As for Turris, it makes no sense for the Penguins to have interest in him. Yes, Crosby is still sidelined, but he’ll be returning at some point this season, likely within the next month or so, and they already have Malkin and Jordan Staal at center, plus young Tyler Kennedy, who can play wing and center if needed. Makes no sense. Ditto the Sabres, who have Roy, Leino, Hecht and Gaustad. The Ducks have Getzlaf, Koivu and Cogliano as their top three centers.
