Jones joins the Flames.

Various sources report the Calgary Flames have traded minor league defenseman Brendan Mikkelson to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Blair Jones.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Mikkelson has some NHL experience so I’m guessing the Lightning intend to use him to fill gaps on their injury-hobbled defense, or he’ll fill a spot on their farm team as they call up someone else. Jones has played 22 games for the Lightning this season. The Flames are missing Alex Tanguay, Matt Stajan and David Moss to injury, and Jones is a checking forward who can play center or wing, so he’ll probably be a short-term depth addition on the third or fourth line.
