Flames Curtis Glencross sidelined by knee injury…Senators shooting for first overall in the East…Sami Salo working hard to return to Canucks…Jaroslav Spacek speaks out about the Canadiens…Nazem Kadri’s fate is in his hands…Jets’ Mark Stuart paying a physical price for his style of play…Oilers rookie Anton Lander struggling to score.

CALGARY SUN: Flames forward Curtis Glencross could miss the next six weeks to an MCL injury.

SPECTOR’ S NOTE: This is a serious blow to their offensive attack. They’ll look to Alex Tanguay or Brendan Morrison to return to action soon.

OTTAWA SUN: The Senators have their sights set on first overall in the Eastern Conference.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Hard to believe, but the Sens are only two points out of first overall. Heady times for a team few expected to even make the playoffs, let alone fly this high in the standings.

Salo hoping to return soon to Canucks blueline.

VANCOUVER SUN:  Defenseman Sami Salo is hoping to return to the Canucks as soon as possible, though the club might sit him a little longer to ensure he’s made a full recovery from injuries suffered when he was “submarined” by Boston’s Brad Marchand earlier this month.

RDS.CA: Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaroslav Spacek recently commented on the plight of his former team, the Montreal Canadiens, saying he was glad to be away from the circus.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Rather than getting upset or defensive, the Canadiens and their followers might want to consider the wisdom of Spacek’s words. After all, how can the Canadiens improve by enticing quality free agents, or retaining their best players, given the current atmosphere surrounding the team?

TORONTO SUN: Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri acknowledges his fate is in his own hands to seize the opportunity to become a full-fledged NHL player.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Leafs fans have been waiting for Kadri to break out and play up to the expectations that comes with being a former first round pick. The slow development has resulted in Kadri getting mentioned in trade rumors.

WINNIPEG SUN: Jets defenseman Mark Stuart’s physical play has taken a toll upon his body, but he accepts it as part of the game.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Like his teammates, Oilers rookie Anton Lander is struggling to score.
