CSNPHILLY.COM: Laura Pronger, the wife of Philadelphia Flyers injured defenseman Chris Pronger, said there’s been no substantial change – positive or negative – in her husband’s post-concussion symptoms.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It was already known Pronger wouldn’t return to the Flyers this season or in the playoffs. His career could be over if there’s no significant improvement in his status in the near future. Pronger has reportedly sought out Keith Primeau, whose career was ended due to concussions, for advice regarding treatment and recovery.

DETROIT NEWS: Backup goalie Joey MacDonald made 23 saves as the Red Wings hung on to edge the San Jose Sharks 3-2 for their 23rd consecutive home win.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: One reader raised a interesting stat: as strong as the Wings have been at home, they have a .500 record (15-15-1) on the road so far.

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: The Rangers didn’t let the Rick Nash trade rumors distract them, edging the Blue Jackets in overtime 3-2.

STARTRIBUNE.COM: The Wild snapped a seven-game losing skid, as goalie Niklas Backstrom made 48 saves on route to a 2-0 shutout of the visiting Boston Bruins.

ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER: Jonas Hiller got his third shutout of the season, Teemu Selanne netted his 20th goal of the season (the 17th time in his career he’s reached that plateau), as the Anaheim Ducks blanked the Florida Panthers 2-0, their 15th win in their last 21 games.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The win moves the Ducks five points from a playoff spot; a significant achievement when one considers, six weeks ago, they were 20 point out and everyone – myself included – was writing off their playoff hopes.

CHICAGO TRIBUNE: Three third period goals gave the Chicago Blackhawks their third consecutive win, downing the St. Louis Blues 3-1.

THE TENNESSEAN: The Nashville Predators edged the Dallas Stars 3-2.

THE BUFFALO NEWS: The Sabres snapped a four-game winless skid with a big win (6-2) over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

DENVER POST: The Avalanche suffered their third loss in four games, thumped 5-1 by the Winnipeg Jets.

TAMPA BAY TIMES: Lightning defenseman Mattias Ohlund, who’s missed the entire season to knee surgeries, is now facing major surgery on his left knee.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It remains to be seen if Ohlund will be able to resume his NHL career.
