Miller unhappy to see Gaustad go.

BUFFALO NEWS: Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller unhappy long-time teammate Paul Gaustad was dealt to Nashville.

COLUMBUS DISPATCH: Blue Jackets fans continued to cheer Rick Nash after management revealed post-trade deadline he had asked to be traded.

POST-GAZETTE.COM: Former Dallas Stars blueliner Matt Niskanen intends to face his old team with a chip on his shoulder as the Penguins face the Stars tonight.

DENVER POST: Former Shark Jamie McGinn is looking forward to joining the Colorado Avalanche.

NEW YORK POST: Carl Hagelin, among several Rangers mentioned in trade rumors with the Blue Jackets and Rick Nash, was glad management opted not to deal for Nash.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Hagelin’s obvious relief over not being traded aside, it was in my opinion a good move by GM Glen Sather not to risk blowing apart his team’s cohesiveness down the stretch. Sure, they could use an offensive boost, but overall the Rangers have played well, and must be considered a Cup contender if they continue their strong performance down the stretch.

ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER: The Ducks intend to keep rookie Devante Smith-Pelley in the lineup for the rest of the season.

LOS ANGELES TIMES: Jonathan Bernier got the shutout as the Kings downed the Minnesota Wild 4-0.

WASHINGTON POST: Troy Brouwer scored twice and Alexander Ovechkin got the OT winner as the Capitals rallied from a 2-0 deficit to down the NY Islanders 3-2.

MERCURYNEWS.COM: Antti Niemi made 26 saves as the San Jose Sharks edged the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0.

NEWSOBSERVER.COM: Bryan Allen scored in overtime as the Carolina Hurricanes nipped the Nashville Predators 4-3.

CBC.CA: Montreal Canadiens legend Jean Beliveau was hospitalized Monday evening after suffering a stroke.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Best wishes to Le Gros Bill for a speedy recovery. He’s still the classiest man in hockey.

THE GLOBE AND MAIL: Bruce Dowbiggin on how Twitter trumped the networks during this year’s trade deadline.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It’ll be interesting in the near future to see what effect this could have of the sports networks coverage of the deadline.

Happy birthday to Canadiens legend Henri “Pocket Rocket” Richard, who turns 19 today. Actually, he’s 76, but he was born on February 29, making him a “leap year baby”.
