DENVER POST: Avalanche rookie Gabriel Landeskog, battling the flu, scored in overtime to give his team a 3-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. The loss spoiled two milestones for the Ducks: Saku Koivu’s 1,000th NHL game, and Teemu Selanne’s 1,399th career point.

MERCURYNEWS.COM: The San Jose Sharks downed the Edmonton Oilers 3-2.

THE BUFFALO NEWS: The Sabres “two Tylers”, Ennis and Myers, did all the scoring for their club, carrying their club to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Montreal Canadiens, moving the Sabres to within two points of a playoff spot.

CSNPHILLY.COM: The Flyers are happy for embattled goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, who garnered “player of the week” honors for his solid performance last week.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: It’s been an up-and-down first season in Philadelphia for Bryzgalov, sparking rumors at one point the Flyers might chase another goalie via trade and bury him in the minors. Through hard work and determination, Bryzgalov “got his groove back”, and over the past two weeks has played very well. 

STARTRIBUNE.COM: The season may be a lost cause for the Minnesota Wild, but injured captain Mikko Koivu, who might face off-season surgery for his injured shoulder, is determined to return to action before the season ends.

BOSTON HERALD: The banged-up Bruins are forced to call-up center Trent Whitfield, as four players – forwards Patrice Bergeron, Daniel Paille and Benoit Pouliot and defenseman Adam McQuaid – are listed as “day-to-day”.
