Hartley new bench boss of the Flames.

The Calgary Flames have officially announced the hiring of former NHL coach Bob Hartley as their new head coach. Hartley, who won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2001 and whose last NHL coaching job was with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2007-08, spent last season as coach of the Zurich Lions in Switzerland.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Scratch Hartley from the list of potential coaching candidates for the Montreal Canadiens, who were also interested in him.  Have to wonder if there will be any difficulty getting him out of his contract with Zurich. One would assume the Flames sought and receive permission to speak with Hartley.
