Kings look at the positives while Devils hope to maintain momentum heading into Game 6, fallout from the Brad Stuart trade, and an update on Sidney Crosby’s contract talks.
LOS ANGELES TIMES: Despite losing two straight, the Kings are maintaining the positive, knowing they’re only one win from the Stanley Cup.
NJ.COM: The Devils hope to ride the momentum of the last two games into winning Game Six and forcing a seventh and deciding game back in New Jersey.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Kings are still in the best position, but if the Devils win tonight, it’s anyone’s series.
DETROIT FREE PRESS: Red Wings GM Ken Holland made a last-ditch effort to convince defenseman Brad Stuart to re-sign prior to trading him yesterday to the San Jose Sharks.
MERCURYNEWS.COM: Stuart returns to the team he began his NHL career with, and where his family lives year-round. He’s hoping this will be his last destination.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Stuart is eligible for UFA status on July 1st. The Sharks have until that date to get him under contract or risk losing him to free agency.
PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: An update on Sidney Crosby’s contract talks with the Penguins. Despite recent reports the two sides may be working toward a ten-year, $90 million extension, talks remain in the preliminary stage, and the earliest the Penguins can re-sign Crosby, who has one year remaining on his current contract, is July 1st.
